March Update

Taz has been working with Jess our local dog trainer doing agility and mental stimulation exercises. Taz has always been told what to do for treats but now Jess has been encouraging him to think for himself with the use of a clicker and Taz has shown some promising results. He has also thoroughly enjoyed his agility session and will hopefully be going again in a few weeks. Taz was encouraged to do the equipment and rewarded for his efforts. He met lots of people and other dogs and didn’t seem too fazed by any of it.

Taz has also learnt a few new tricks and we have taught him to lay down dead when we shoot him and to also catch a treat when balanced on his nose! He loves to learn new things and is so eager to impress, he does become a bit of a show off by the end of the session.

Taz is still looking for his new forever home. We are looking for an owner who will be prepared to put in some work with Taz. He will need physical and mental exercise as he thoroughly enjoys both. Taz will make a fantastic companion to the right home and if you feel you can offer him this then please contact us.
January update

Taz is still at the kennels and coping quite well as he is familiar with the routine but would love to have a proper family to live with (although unfortunately he cannot be homed with cats).

Taz is walked daily and is regularly taken to our local parks for off lead exercise. Malibu has joined him on a few occasions and they love to chase a ball together - although Taz is not very good at the "fetch" side of things!

Taz loves playing with toys here at the kennels and enjoys his daily kong. He is fabulous around food - he never jumps up whilst staff are eating and often gets to lick out a yoghurt pot as a reward for his good behaviour. He is also very good with our smaller dogs and puppies and often proves to be a calming influence.

We have recently had another trainer contact us who is working with Taz and some of the other dogs. Jess is doing mental stimulation exercises and once they have had a few sessions together we will do a further update.

December update

Taz is still doing really well at the kennels. Currently, he is socialised with Malibu, a female Lab X. He has also been getting to know our little Teacup Yorkie, Kizzy – which is very comical!

We get him to the Sports Centre or Common as often as we can for some off lead exercise, which he thoroughly enjoys.

SUMMER 2009

Taz is an adorable character and great big softie once he has learnt to trust you. Through no fault of his own Taz has been in kennels for a long time and desperately needs to find a new home. Unfortunately he didn't have much socialisation before he came to us and because of this is a little wary of strangers, particularly men but we have been working on this.

Taz is undergoing training with an experienced dog trainer and he is doing tremendously well. He has been mixed off lead with a 'pack' of other dogs and he has mixed very well. He really enjoys his long walks in the forest and his paddles in the river! He is also being introduced to lots of new people to help build his confidence. Unfortunately, we have discovered that he will not be able to live with cats.

To help stimulate him mentally, we have been challenging him with regular training sessions. He is excellent at sit, down and wait. He is also learning numerous tricks such as weaving through legs and touching various items on command.

Taz walks very nicely on a lead and will sit to cross the road. He loves going for a run off lead but he does have to wear a muzzle when off lead.

Taz is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated.

Due to his trust issues Taz will need an understanding, experienced home that is willing to work with him but once he has gained confidence and learnt to trust you Taz would make someone a wonderful pet.
