Happy Endings
This page celebrates our adopters and the new lives our dogs have found. We love to hear how our dogs have settled in and to share the good news with S.C.A.M.P.S. supporters.

If you have adopted a dog from S.C.A.M.P.S we would love to hear how you're getting on. Please send us your updates (with pictures if possible) to website@scamps4straydogs.org and we will post them here!!

GAMBLE

Some pictures of Gamble's Christmas and New Year (combined with my youngest grand daughter's First Birthday party)... you'll see he's doing really well, putting on weight and becoming quite a lively boy (well, at times; he also sleeps very well still and is snoring away right now after coping wonderfully with a houseful of guests of all ages) and enjoying new experiences every day.

A few puppy behaviours like chewing and mouthing are emerging, and he tends to have a very silly patch in the morning, but fortunately he enjoys playing with his toys in the garden and, because he obviously wants to please and be a good boy, he can fairly easily be diverted into more acceptable channels. He's been spending some time at my daughter's house over the holiday period and has become quite devoted to her, following her wheelchair around (and sleeping in front of it - he can be rather difficult to budge); he seems to be very much a person-orientated dog. He's lovely with the small grandchildren (devoted and oh so gentle with the baby) but also enjoys playing football with the older foster children. Quite a character altogether.

Gamble

Just thought I would drop you a line to let you know how I am settling into my new home.

My new pack are lovely, they took a time to decide on my name but finally settled with 'Baylie'!!

We all have great fun together, we go up the New Forest every day to feed our horse 'Mac' and have a long run about, I didn't like water to begin with, but shadow is always in the stuff so I decided if I wanted to play with him I had to get my feet wet, now I love it!  The cat 'Samson' is still unsure of me but I am sure we will be friends eventually.

I have been a bit naughty, I keep stealing food and I sneak upstairs when I know I'm not allowed, but I tilt my head and give a look and I get away with it with a little telling off!!!

Christmas has been lovely, we all had turkey, and I stole some cheese and bread too!!

I have grown a bit as you can see and am extremely gorgeous.

TALLY

I adopted a black and white staffie cross from you back in september 2006 and called her Tally. I hope you remember her, as I want to let you know how well she has settled with us.

My lurcher and her are now best buddies, even though they do fight over the best pigs ears and raw hide chews! She loves nothing more than to stretch her legs in the Forest but is equally happy curled up on sofa next to someone. When I adopted her she was incredibly thin, but  in no time at all she gained some weight having a very good appetite!!!
We adopted Daisy from Scamps before Christmas last year and we’ve rarely had a dull moment since.

It’s been fantastic seeing the underweight, nervous dog we took in turn into a healthy, happy and confident dog. She’s met plenty of people and is so quick to trust now.  Within moments of a new person coming into our house she’s asleep on them in seconds!

Perhaps the best improvement has been seeing her play with other dogs – to see what used to be such a timid dog haring around with a friend and losing all of her cares has been unparalleled.

Adopting Daisy has been without question one of the most rewarding things we’ve ever done and neither of us can imagine being without her anymore. We will always appreciate what SCAMPS has done for helping us to give such a lovely dog a second chance.
DAISY
GINNY

Ginny has now been with us for 6 weeks and we are all loving every minute of our time with her. She has settled in really well, it feels like she's been here for a lot longer. As I am writing this email she is sitting on the sofa cuddled up to her 'Dad' and she wasn't going to be allowed on the sofa!!

Ginny goes out for at least two longs walks everyday, she goes off her lead and has lots of fun running around the forest. She is very good and knows some commands. She takes everything in her stride and doesn't seem to have bought any problems with her, well apart from her love of eating the contents of the rubbish bin, but we're working on that.

Ginny's favourite game is chasing her tennis ball, she didn't know what to do with it when we first threw it, but she soon got the idea, and is in her element hurtling across the park to keep retrieving it.

We're all so pleased that Ginny is part of the family, she's everything we wanted and more and we're all looking forward to spending many happy years with her.
We adopted Ruby on the 15th February this year and she has settled into our family life as if she has always been here! Louis, our rescue Lurcher, had been without a playmate for the last 10 years but he's taken to Ruby considering she's 9 years his junior. As you can see from the photo she's taken over his bed!

We are Ruby's second adoptive home, but we have not experienced any problems with her by introducing her to Louis and our home in the correct manner. We found Cesar Millan's book 'A member of the family' invaluable plus the advice of the wonderful staff at SCAMPS.

She enjoys spending her days following you around the house and trying to 'help' by bringing your slippers to you, running around the garden with Louis and chasing the birds. In the evening she likes to curl up on someones lap, fall asleep and snore like a Bull dog!

We are all very happy she is part of our family.
RUBY
BAYLIE
We just had to tell you how Tommo (now called Tommy) is getting on. He has settled very well, much quicker than we expected. He plays with the Chihuahua's and is as gentle as a lamb with them, they walk all over him, and he is so playful.

TOMMY
Juno is still very lively and cheeky. She is spoilt by Arthur & Flossie, who are both older than her, and who let her get away with a lot. As you can see from the picture they have very rough games. She's not as tall as we thought she was going to be but is quite solid & has a very big head.  She's still extremely friendly towards people & other dogs and generally good fun!
JUNO
April is a beautiful little dog with alot of energy. She gets on really well with Sid most of the time (apart from when he annoys her!!). Our youngest daughter, Emily, constantly plays with the two dogs, and April is lapping up the attention. SCAMPS gave April a shave when she first arrived at the kennels due to the condition of her coat, but she has now visited "Aunty Lyn" at the pooch parlour, and looks lovely (and white!!). She has a gorgeous temperament and is very loving. It feels like she has been with us for years, not just a month. Sid has never been allowed on the sofa at home but now we have April, they both share the smaller sofa of an evening. Funny how things change!!! She has even put on around 1.5kg since we have had her, and you can now stroke her without feeling her ribs and spine.

Thanks to my great cousin, Jess, for telling us about April, and thanks to the team at the kennels for letting us adopt April. I am sure she is going to enjoy her life with us, especially the attention and treats!!!
APRIL
We adopted Toby from you on 12/3/10 and we have not regretted it for a moment we cannot now remember a time when we did not have him.
He is very people orientated and likes to sit as close to us as possible and with teenagers in the house laying on the floor he also likes to lay on them, He will sunbathe at every opportunity and looks like he owns the garden. He has settled with us so well and we are keen to introduce him to camping next!
I would never have considered a staffi but was put in touch with you by Emma one of your helpers and friends and family of mine who were initially put purely because of his breed have all been won over.
We are so pleased we found him thank you all so much.
